Job hunting! It is soooo much fun! It seems like I get to do it about every 5 years. I think I read a horoscope of mine once that says I go in 5 year cycles. I guess that means every 5 years I get to look for a new job. I hope I break that cycle this time, it would be nice.
I went to a open session for Southwest Airlines today for a customer service agent position. I went a couple of months ago to a Skywest one for a flight attendant position. Both sessions were basically the same. You go into a large room and the recruiter talks to you about the company and the position you are applying for. That goes on for about an hour. Then you take a break to get rid of the folks who really aren’t interested. You all come back in and they chat some more at you then it is our turn to talk. Everyone gets to have a chance. It really is quite fascinating if you like to hear people’s stories, which I do. Every one did well today, but they only called 4 people back in to talk, there were 25 of us to start. I was not in that select group. They told the rest of us not to be discouraged that they would contact us one way or the other in the next 2 weeks. The airline business, I am not sure why I am even looking into it. There are so many people out of work in that business alone, and they are all trying to get back into it, just like my son Phill. The only really good thing about it is, you can fly for free, of course it is all stand by, but that is a good perk! So I think for now I will continue my search here in the Springs. I would have had to drive to DIA every day on that one, that doesn’t sound too appealing$$$$$.
So for those of you out there searching for employment, and from what I have seen, there are many of us, good luck to you and may good fortune find you soon!! You just have to be optimistic and hope and pray that the right door will open for you soon.
