Yes, I have copied from my dear son Jim. If you take a look at his newest blogs it makes you think about your life, your friends lives, and just folks in general. We are all in this together.
His latest blog, showed up close photos from just a couple of days after 9/11. Unbelievable sites of such a devestating time in the history of this country and the world. I had been in New York many years ago and remember looking up at those tremendous buildings and looking back at them on the boat out to the Statue of Liberty, they were incredible. Three years ago I was standing behind the fences that block off the area where these giants stood. The wind was blowing and the flowers and pictures that were still on the fences blew in the wind like ghosts. All of us that were there that day were very silent. You could see people speaking but everyone spoke in whispers. It is a place where you come face to face with what real tragedy looks, smells and feels like. Some of the buildings around the site still had broken windows and shattered sides. I can’t even imagine what it must have been like for those that were there that day. We can all say we do, but once you have stood there and look at this huge empty space you can only imagine the terror that the people experienced that day. For those that survived, I pray that they are all doing well. And for those that did not, I hope that the memorial that they put into this place befits the memories of their extraodinary lives. You can feel their presence, it is like they are standing right next to you. Over the years I hope people will not forget. If you get a chance to go to New York please go to the site and pay your respects. You will never forget the feeling that comes over you while you are standing there. You must visit the church where so many people were helped. It is an amazing look at how people came together to give each other the love and support they needed during such a tragic time.
His next blog involves some rather entertaining pictures of our family. Gosh, my kids were so cute. Of course, they both still are but when they are little, what dolls. The photos go back many years, even to when I was a baby…now there are some rather interesting ones of me in there. I tried to have a sense of fashion, didn’t always work.
That is what looking back over the years is about. Memories are precious. The memories that we each hold dear of our families our friends and the memories of all the families of those that were lost on 9/11. The future is unknown, it changes in each of our lives every day. That is what keeps life so interesting!!
So keep your memories in photos, videos, etc., but cherish the new ones you make every minute and hour of each new day. One day we will be talking about those too! To remember those who have gone before us is always a wonderful feeling, memories are priceless. To all the people that are in our lives today, take care, know that you are loved and cherished, and we will all keep making memories together!
Take care and try to be good!
