Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays!!  Some people say how can that be?  I love to be scared and I love to dress up.   What a great time of year to do both.

Hallow’s Eve, Hallow E’en, Halloween, Day of the Dead, Samhain. By whatever name it has been called, this special night preceding All Hallows day (November 1st) has been considered for centuries as one of the most magical nights of the year. A night of power, when the veil that separates our world from the Otherworld is at its thinnest. As ubiquitous as Halloween celebrations are throughout the world, few of us know that the true origin of Halloween is a ceremony of honoring our ancestors and the day of the dead. A time when the veils between the worlds were thinner, and so many could “see” the other side of life. A time in the year when the spiritual and material worlds touched for a moment, and a greater potential exists for magical creation.

So this Halloween create your own magic and have a wonderful, scary, fun time!!  BOO to you!!

Fire!

Unless you are comotose, you have to have seen all the news on the fires in Southern California.  It is hard to imagine what those folks are going through.  Leaving your home and not knowing if it will be standing upon your return.  Some only had a few minutes to get out and take what they could.  All the morning shows are giving advise now on what you should have ready to go when and if that time comes.  All good ideas.  Of course the most important thing is getting out and making sure everyone is safe, that is the main concern.

I remember when the Hayman fire was glowing in the distance from Colorado Springs.   The things I thought about were my pictures.  That is something you cannot replace.  Of course now, if you have them on your computer, you can copy them and take them out the door with you.  But some of us old school folks still have boxes, and I mean boxes of pictures.  Most are my from the last 30+ years but there are also quite a few of when I was little and some ancient ones of parents, grandparents and great grandparents and family.  Those are all priceless.  Of course get your paperwork in order too so  you can get that out at a minutes notice.

There are days when you take life for granted.  But then nature once again lets us know who really is in charge!!

Please keep all those folks in CA in your thoughts and we hope that the Santa Ana’s will soon subside and let everyone get back to their daily lives.   D take care!!!
