Jim was the man on the street for the DNC. He looked like he was having a really good time, which he was, he loved getting to talk politics. Vote for Jim!! While he was out and about absorbing the energy on the streets, I was in the Pepsi Center working as a Suite Attendant in a VIP suite. Sounds exciting doesn’t it. It actually was quite exciting, but I did work hard too, my feet were killing me. I got involved through Jim’s girlfriend, Molly. She and I were both working as suite attendants. She got in with the high rollers, she had Howard Dean and his crew. I had all the senators and representatives from the Colorado contingent. They were very nice folks and I had a really fun time with them all. We lucked out and had the best seat in the house. Our suite was directly in front of the stage. I saw everything up close and personal. It really was an exciting experience. The suite next to me had a variety of folks from politicians to movie stars and other celebrities. I saw the great Muhammed Ali, the actor Blair Underwood and his family, (they were very nice, they actually ended up in our suite for awhile during Bill Clinton’s speach) and Blair is a very handsome man. Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were in the suite next door, and I was told that Jennifer was a sweetheart. I made a special note to my husband, who loves her, that I was about 10 feet away from her. Ben had a big beard, must be making a movie. Saw Spike Lee and a couple of other famous folks too. Molly and I stopped Dan Rather at the front of the convention center and got a picture of he and Molly together, for Jim, he loves good old Dan. I saw all the famous media folk and the hallways were jammed with hundreds of people every day. It was a wild time!
The whole event was quite exciting. Even though I am not a politically active person it was all history in the making and I was there. I got to see and hear all the speaches and see all the famous politicians and it was an experience I will never forget.
One of the most exciting times was when it came time for the roll call. For me this was wonderful getting to see all the delegations, these are the people that really have worked hard for all these politicians and it was there moment in the spotlight. It was quite exciting! Of course when Hillary came through the crowd and ended all of it the roar of the crowd was unbelievable!!! I believe there were alot of folks there that would have much rather seen her up there then Obama, but maybe next time.
As I said all the folks that were in my suite from Colorado were wonderful. I had nice conversations with all of them but Ed Perlmutter and I seemed to hit it off, he was very nice. His staff asked if I wanted to go to Invesco to hear Obama on Thursday night and I didn’t think I could, I was tired. I should have gone or at least gotten Jim over there.
All in all it was a once in a lifetime experience, I am so glad I was involved.
Whoever you are pulling for for president, just make sure you do get out and vote!!!!
God Bless America!
Take care!
